Our beloved Edgar Allan Poe has, indeed, written many of his most important writings here in Philadelphia. You argue a very good point there. I could very easily agree with you.
However, let us ask ourselves what did Edgar want to achieve most dearly in life? Yes, true, he did dream endlessly of owning a successful literary magazine, bu more importantly, he wanted peace, something he never achieved until he had died. So, if he is now at peace in Paradise with his wife and aunt, why would we take him away from it? Which is better? Having Edgar's body at his expaense, or leaving him where he is and knowing that he is happy?

Though I don't disagree that Poe's corpse is perfectly fine in Baltimore, I wonder how the prior commenter came to the conclusion that all Poe wanted in life was peace. It's quite a romantic notion but possibly reflects more of the commenter's own editorializing, rather than Poe's.

And I think Poe would be delighted beyond measure to know that cities were fighting over his body. This Poe War would be like sweet vindication for all the slights (real and percieved) that he received in life. Come on home, Edgar.
